E-cigarette VS ordinary cigarette which is more harmful

There are two main differences between e-cigarettes and ordinary tobacco cigarettes in terms of hazards, which are the difference in tobacco composition and the difference in atomization. Let’s talk about it today, here we go.

1. As far as the ingredients are concerned, electronic cigarettes are far less harmful than traditional tobacco cigarettes.


Undoubtedly, tar is the most harmful to ordinary smoke. Tar refers to a layer of brown greasy substance remaining in the cigarette holder during smoking, commonly known as smoke oil. A variety of carcinogens such as tea, amines, and nitrosamines, and cancer-promoting substances such as phenols and fumaric acid. Because of this, ordinary tobacco has become a class of carcinogens listed by the International Agency for Research on Cancer under the World Health Organization.  In addition, cigarette tar can accelerate the aging of human blood vessels, resulting in gradual hardening of blood vessels and loss of elasticity, leading to cardiovascular diseases. Many other diseases are often caused by tar. Therefore, the first advice of many disease doctors is to quit smoking.

So does e-cigarette have tar? The answer is no. One of the biggest advantages of e-cigarettes is that they do not contain tar. Instead, they use safe VG (glycerin) and PG (propylene glycol) as alternatives, both of which are common organic solvents and safe ingredients contained in skin care products, at least there is not enough evidence that they are harmful.


Nicotine is another important ingredient in tobacco, and it is also a well-known tobacco ingredient. In fact, the combustion of ordinary smoke itself produces high concentrations of formaldehyde.

Combustion vs atomization

Generally, the atomization temperature of electronic cigarettes is controlled at 250-350℃, and some electronic cigarettes can even achieve low-temperature fog of 220-250℃. This temperature is much lower than the 700-800°C of ordinary tobacco, and this will greatly reduce the harm of e-cigarettes and reduce the production of harmful substances. This is another important reason for the low harm of e-cigarettes.

What is more, the generation of particulate matter is also an important factor. Particles near μm can enter the human body and cause serious harm, such as cardiovascular disease. The combustion of traditional tobacco will produce a large amount of solid suspended particulate matter.
